My King (Poem)

A dream I refused to allow myself to dream
A fetch that seemed further than the colonization of Mars

Bitterly I fought
to push you out of my mind

A lone mercenary
pitted against battalions of unrelenting haunts

But you kept coming back
More strength every turn

Dismantled my minefield
Unfettered my world

You burned down my fortress
And put your throne in its place

Now there’s nothing I can do
But bow to your grace
