I Ain’t Right (Poem)

Lord-I-know-You-need-the-overcomers.

I ain’t right
I ain’t wrapped too tight

My screws are loose
And my scope is off sight

I got that monkey on my back
I got that thorn on my side

I got that bird in my brain
I got that curse on my mind

I don’t know which way I’m going
But I know it leads to hell

First I slide
And then I slip
And then I fall into my cell

Every dream turns to terror
Every thought resorts to crime

See the shadows
Hear the whispers
Feed the demons in my mind

I can’t praise the higher power
When that force that’s greater than me
Has got me locked up in a circus
Full of freaks and endless greed

And I ain’t right
And Lord I know it
As I kneel before your throne

Ask for mercy
Beg forgiveness
As I fight to carry on
