Dirt (Poem)

We come from the dirt
And we go back to the dirt

We sow seeds in the dirt
And grow plants in the dirt

From those plants, make a shirt
And some pants, and a skirt

We eat from the dirt
And we bleed in the dirt

We reside on the dirt
We rely on the dirt

So if you cherish the dirt
Please don’t perish the dirt

Don’t dump waste in the dirt
Don’t debase the dirt

Just amend the dirt
Be a friend to the dirt

Excavate the dirt
And reclaim the dirt

You are dirt
And the dirt is you

Take care of the dirt
Or the dirt will take you
